Who we are
PourPlay is operated by PourPlay Inc., a US company. We provide the PairPlays wine-pairing game at pairplays.com. Contact us at hello@pairplays.com.
What we collect
When you register with the full sign-up form we collect your first name, email address, date of birth, and a password you create. If you start playing as a guest and later save your progress, we collect your email address and a password at that point; you confirm you are 21 or older before entering the site either way. During gameplay we store your scores, streaks, level progress, and in-app items (PourPoints, PourPacks) both in your browser on your device and, once you have an account, on our servers linked to your account so your progress syncs.
Date of birth
Where we collect your date of birth, we use it solely to verify that you are 21 or older as required by US federal and state law. We do not share it with third parties.
Age verification
Before entering the site, visitors confirm they are 21 or older. When you confirm, we record your IP address, browser type, and the time of confirmation on our servers as a legal record that we age-gate access to alcohol-related content. This information is used solely for age-verification compliance - not to track you, build a profile, or for advertising.
How we use it
Your name and email are used to personalize your experience and to contact you about rewards. We do not sell your personal information as defined under applicable US state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The only advertising shown inside the app is our own promotional videos for wine partners such as Laithwaites, which you can choose to watch to earn an extra life. We do not load third-party ad or analytics SDKs into the app, and we never use your personal information to target ads to you. We share your data with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the service: Supabase (our database, authentication, and email-sending host), Stripe (secure payment processing, only if you make a purchase), and Resend (email delivery for account and reward messages); and with Laithwaites Wine when you choose to redeem a coupon through their site.
Partner and shop links
Wine tiles and shop links in the app take you to partner retailers such as wine.com through Rakuten Advertising, our affiliate network, and we earn a commission if you buy. When you tap one of those links, Rakuten and the retailer receive your click, your IP address, and your browser information, along with a random per-visit reference we attach so commissions can be reconciled. That reference is not your name, email, or date of birth, and we do not send them your account details. Once you land on a partner site you are covered by that partner's own privacy policy, not this one.
California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). Contact hello@pairplays.com to exercise these rights.
Cookies & storage
We use browser localStorage to save game progress. PairPlays sets no tracking cookies of its own, and no third-party analytics SDKs are loaded (see Analytics & device info below). If you follow a shop or wine link out to a partner retailer, that retailer and our affiliate network may set their own cookies on their own sites (see Partner and shop links above).
Analytics & device info
To understand how the game is used and to keep it secure, we collect first-party usage and device information, such as which screens and buttons you interact with, your device type, operating system, browser, screen size, language, and timezone. This is processed on our own servers, is tied only to your account or session, is never sold, and is never used to target ads to you. We do not load third-party analytics or advertising SDKs into the app.
Data retention
We keep your account information and game data for as long as your account is active. Age-verification records and usage logs are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law, then deleted. You can request deletion at any time by contacting hello@pairplays.com.
Your rights
Signing out on your Profile screen clears the game data saved in this browser on your device. It does not delete the information held on our servers. To request deletion of the personal information we hold (such as your name, email, and date of birth), contact hello@pairplays.com.
Children
PairPlays is strictly for users aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it. (As required for all online services, we also do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.)
Changes
We may update this policy. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
